Understanding Tread and Pressure

If you've ever seen a tire blowout, you know that it can have catastrophic results. Instead of letting your tires get to that point, it's a good idea to regularly monitor them and fill them with air or install entirely new ones as needed.

Your manufacturer lists the proper range of inflation in your owner's manual, so check that for the number you should be seeing when you use your tire gauge. If your tires are low, they're not only at risk of a blowout, they're costing you money at the gas pump. Your tread is important also; a proper tread gives you greater traction in uncertain conditions, so checking it with a penny inserted so Lincoln's head is toward your vehicle will show you tread depth. If you can see the top of Lincoln's head, your tread is too low.

Visit Honda of Abilene for a new set of tires or for help in determining your proper inflation level.
